Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year, also known as the "head of the year," and marks the anniversary of the world's creation.
Celebrated with prayer, festive meals of sweet foods like apples and honey, and the blowing of a shofar (ram's horn), it is a time for introspection, repentance, and making positive resolutions for the year ahead.
It is the start of the Days of Awe, a 10-day period of soul-searching that ends with Yom Kippur.
