Census 101: Making South LA Count Livestream - Thursday, June 25 at 11:00AM

Posted on 06/23/2020

In an effort to count every resident of District 9, Councilman Curren Price is partnering with the Mayor’s Office of the Census to host a virtual conversation titled "Census 101: Making South LA Count" THIS Thursday, June 25 at 11 a.m. The livestream will be broadcast on LA Cityview channel 35 and Councilman Price’s Facebook page @CurrenDPriceJr.

Recent reports show that Black and Latino populations are falling behind the rest of the nation in answering the census questionnaire. The Census is held every 10 years to determine how much federal funding each state receives annually for education, healthcare, housing, and other social safety net programs. The Census also determines the apportionment of Congressional seats and redistricting at all levels of government. Tune in to this week’s digital discussion and don’t forget to respond online, by phone or via mail by Oct. 31.

Have questions about what the census means for you, your family and community? Email us at [email protected] to get answers by the experts. For more information on the virtual event, see the flyer below, or call Councilman Price’s District Office at (323) 846-2651.
